13th Asia Pacific Water Forum Webinar. Accelerating progress on IWRM in the Asia-Pacific Region

The Asia Pacific Water Forum (APWF) Webinar is held once every four months, co-organized by the APWF secretariat and its member. The 13th of the series was held on 2 March 2022, picked the topic from the 2021 GWP and UNEP-DHI joint progress report on the IWRM in the Asia-Pacific Region. The report provides the basis for further regional collaboration to take action on the critical next steps needed to work towards achieving full IWRM implementation by 2030.

The webinar was used as a means to share key results, findings and recommendations of the SDG 6.5.1 Progress Report in Asia-Pacific. Two countries the Philippines and Georgia shared their experiences in using the results and findings of IWRM monitoring and how they can be mainstreamed in government processes.

Among the panellist representing GWP Southeast Asia were Mr Fany Wedahuditama (Regional Coordinator), Ms Megan Knight (Senior IWRM Expert), and Dr Sevillo D. David, Jr. (Executive Director, National Water Resources Board / GWP Philippines). GWP Central Asia and the Caucasus (CACENA) was represented by Ms Gvantsa Sivsivadze, First Category Senior Specialist at Water Division Environment and Climate Change Department, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. At the end of the session, UNEP-DHI and ADB, which were represented by Mr Paul Glennie, Senior Technical Advisor - UNEP-DHI Centre on Water & Environment and Mr Lance Gore, Principal Water Resources Specialist, ADB respectively encouraged the participants who are responsible for implementing IWRM to discuss a “call for action” which intended to feed into the 4th Asia Pacific Water Summit in April 2022.
