The founding of the Working Committee marked the exploration of the GWP China's regional network to engage the private sector.
The ceremony was organized by Water Resources Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It invited XU Xianhui, Vice Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, CAI Qihua, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources and Regional Chair of GWP China, KUANG Shangfu, President of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, and MA Zeping, Vice President of CSCEC to deliver speeches.
JIANG Yunzhong, member of the 14th National People's Congress and Secretary General of GWP China, announced the founding documents of the Belt and Road Working Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Working Committee") and introduced the organizational structure. Signed a MoU with Prof. JIANG, LIU Yanfeng, Chair of CSCEC (Guangxi), also shared development strategic plan of the Working Committee.
XU Xianhui
XU Xianhui, Vice President of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said Guangxi is adjacent to ASEAN by land and sea, with unique geographical advantages, and has been successfully selected as the first batch of provincial water network pilot areas in China. It expects GWP China and the Belt and Road Working Committee to take Guangxi's strategic opportunities as a guide to provide decision-making support and intellectual support for Guangxi's high-quality development through water resources research, cooperation platform building, scientific and technological achievements transformation and other ways.
CAI Qihua
On behalf of GWP China, Chair CAI Qihua, held that setting up the Working Committee is an important measure to echo the global development initiative and a series of important directives raised by President XI. It is convinced that the Working Committee can be a bridge for cooperation and exchange of water resources, a link for knowledge dissemination and a platform for public participation in the countries along the "the Belt and Road".
KUANG Shangfu
As the lead of the GWP China’s host institute, President Kuang Shangfu of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), expressed a warm congratulation to GWP China and CSCEC for exploring the Working Committee. “IWHR will fully support the work of the Belt and Road Working Committee,” he said, “ I wish the Working Committee would make due contributions to the establishment of a multilateral cooperation mechanism for water security and promotion of the innovation of water related policies, concepts, technologies and knowledge of the "the Belt and Road" by using the network of GWP and "water" as the link.”
JIANG Yunzhong and LIU Yanfeng signed a MoU on behalf of GWP China and CSCEC, respectively, witnessed by XU Xianhui, CAI Qihua, KUANG Shangfu, MA Zeping, LUO Zhanghua, and DENG Changqiu.
