2014 Integrated Water Resources Management Technical Seminar in China

On September 25, 2014, the Integrated Water Resources Management Technical Seminar  sponsored by the GWP China and the GWP China Hunan was organized by Changsha University of Science & Technology in the International Academic Exchange Center of the University  in Changsha City, Hunan Province.

GWPO sent Danka Thalmeinerova, Senior Knowledge Officer, James Gunya Kenge, Knowledge Officer, Angela Klaeuschen, Senior Network Officer and Dr. Dong Fang from International Development Research Centre of the Yangtze River Conservancy Commission and GWP China sent Zheng Rugang, the Coordinator and Ma Yilin, the Communications Officer to the Seminar. There were over 40 participants including professors, lecturers and postgraduate students.

The seminar was chaired by Prof. Hu Xuyue, Deputy Dean of the university. On behalf of Changsha University of Science & Technology, Prof. Li Zhengwen, the Vice President of the University delivered warm welcome speech to the guests and participants. He said that the mission and vision of GWP and GWP China had many things in common with the Changsha University of Science & Technology. The University would like to carry out in-depth exchanges and cooperation with the GWP in the future. Followed the address of the Prof. Li, Mr. Zheng gave some information about the GWP China and the objective of this activity. GWP China would expect to develop the cooperation with the university regarding the IWRM implementation and water education as other technical aspects. Subsequently, Angela, Danka and Dong Fang delivered presentations, covering the theme of GWP new strategy, knowledge management and IWRM Toolbox and its applications. The professors of the university introduced their research achievement under the topic of "theory and practice of water research priorities and direction of the vadose zone" and "Dongting Lake wave calculations". The presentations were followed by discussions through questions and answers. After the meeting, the participants were invited to visit the Hydraulic Laboratory Center in the campus.
